These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of The Schnorrer (the "app" or "service"). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. What the app does

The Schnorrer helps charity fundraisers create personalized donation-request emails for their crowdfunding campaigns, send those emails from their own email account, and track campaign progress. The app reads publicly available information from campaign pages and, with your permission, connects to your Google account to read contacts and send email on your behalf.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement to use the app. You are responsible for the activity that happens under your account and for keeping your access secure. You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date.

3. Your responsibilities when sending email

This is important. When you use the app to send email from your own account, you are the sender and you are responsible for those messages. You agree that:

  • You will only email people with whom you have a genuine relationship or a lawful basis to contact, and you will comply with all applicable laws governing electronic communications and marketing, including UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), and equivalent laws in your recipients' locations (such as the CAN-SPAM Act).
  • You will not use the app to send spam, bulk unsolicited messages, harassing, deceptive, fraudulent, or unlawful content.
  • You will honor opt-out / unsubscribe requests promptly and will not continue to contact people who have asked you to stop.
  • You are solely responsible for the content of the emails you send, including any text generated by the app that you choose to send.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that we reasonably believe are using the service to send spam or to violate these Terms or the law.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to: use the service for any unlawful purpose; attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service or its systems; interfere with or disrupt the service; misuse, scrape, or overload third-party services accessed through the app; or use the service to infringe anyone's rights.

5. Google services

If you connect your Google account, your use of Google features is also subject to Google's terms, and our use of Google data is described in our Privacy Policy and complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. You can revoke the app's access to your Google account at any time at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions.

6. Third-party services and no affiliation

The app reads publicly available campaign data from third-party platforms (such as CharityExtra) to provide its features. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by CharityExtra or any charity or campaign. We do not process donations, and we are not responsible for third-party platforms, their availability, their data, or their terms. Donation tracking shown in the app is provided on a best-effort basis from publicly available information and may be incomplete or delayed; it is not an authoritative record of donations.

7. AI-generated content

The app uses AI to generate suggested email copy. AI output may be inaccurate or imperfect. You are responsible for reviewing any generated content before sending it, and you remain responsible for everything you send.

8. Intellectual property

We own the app and its content (excluding your data and content you provide). We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service in accordance with these Terms. You retain ownership of the content and data you provide; you grant us the limited rights needed to operate and provide the service to you.

9. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any particular fundraising result will be achieved.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill, or reputation, arising from or related to your use of the service. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the claim, or £100. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the service, the emails you send, your content, or your breach of these Terms or applicable law.

12. Termination

You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or use the service unlawfully. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (such as Sections 6, 8, 9, 10, and 11) will survive.

13. Changes to the service and these Terms

We may modify the service or these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes to these Terms, we will update the "Effective date" and post the revised Terms here. Your continued use after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and you agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of its courts, except where applicable law gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
